March is Women’s History Month so we’re celebrating all of our women-owned businesses but especially those located in the South Lansdowne Avenue Business District: Bonnie’s Uptown Wondergardens, Heffernan’s Little Craft Shop, Kia’s Cakes and Café, Lansdowne Urban Farms, and West Wings. The South Side of Lansdowne is the new HOT spot this spring. South Side Thursday in the South Lansdowne Avenue Business District kicks off on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 4-7 p.m. Shops will be open late and many of them will be offering specials, activities, and sales to encourage the community to come out and support local businesses.

Here’s a little bit about each retailer to help you get your shopping list together and plan your evening:

Bonnie’s Uptown Wondergardens – With more than 34 years of flower design experience in the Tri-State area, Bonnie’s specialize in weddings and has created elegant designs to suit a wide variety of styles, tastes, and budgets.

Heffernan’s Little Craft Shop – Heffernan’s is a small gift and craft store that has a variety of gifts such as home decor, soaps, candles, tarts, holiday items, jewelry, pictures, and more!

Kia’s Cakes and Café – Kia’s Cakes makes gourmet custom cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, cookies and chocolate dipped treats, color coordinated and matching your theme of choice. Their signature cookies, brownies, and cheesecakes are even available in vegan and gluten free varieties!

Lansdowne Urban Farms – Lansdowne Urban Farms is a family run, women-owned business that hydroponically grows affordable, high-quality fresh produce. The focus of Lansdowne Urban Farms is on growing Romaine Lettuce, Kale, and Basil currently. They will serve customers, both individuals and restaurants. In addition, they will sell residential hydroponic food growing systems to people that are interested in growing their own food in a sustainable way.

West Wings – West Wings is aiming to be the new premier and authentic restaurant proudly serving the Lansdowne area and beyond for years to come. Filling in the shoes of their sister restaurant, Crystals Comfort Food, it is their mission to provide high-quality food for all those that wish to combine flavor, family, and fun for an extraordinary dining experience. 

Yee’s Hung-Ga Kung Fu Academy – Offering traditional Southern Chinese 5 Animal Style Hung Ga Kung Fu, you can sign up for group classes for ages 3 and up now.

Jamey’s House of Music – An award winning, superbly crafted intimate 80 seat venue for live music with full bar and full-service restaurant, Jamey’s features weekend performances, a Thursday night Jazz Jam, and Sunday Blues Brunch and Jam.
